India's Higher Education Soars and surpasses Mainland China for number of ranked universities

The QS World University Rankings: Asia for 2024 has been released, featuring 856 institutions from 25 countries. Peking University has been named the best university in the region for the second year in a row, followed by the University of Hong Kong and the National University of Singapore. India has the most represented higher education system with 148 universities, followed by Mainland China and Japan. The analysis reveals a mixed performance among universities, with some declining in position and others improving. Indian universities stand out in research productivity and faculty expertise.
