Uttar Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak refuted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's accusations that the BJP government has made Uttar Pradesh the 'capital of fake encounters'. Pathak asserted that law and order have improved since 2017. He defended recent police actions, including a controversial encounter in Sultanpur, stating they were based on thorough investigations and evidence.
